Lucky SHD100 is a cheap black and white negative film from China. It is so cheap that I managed to buy a brick (10 rolls) of the film (just expired) at RM35 (approx. 11 USD) from stinkyfilm. A fresh one is still cheap though, the cost of 1 brick is just around RM40-45. This film is highly recommended for lomo-grapher, who like to shoot for fun and doesn’t care much about the image quality.
Why I bought this film? Obviously because it was cheap!
Where the hell you can look for another film at such a low price? There is no harm when the film goes wrong since it is cheap! It is cheap and I don’t have to hesitate much when I press my shutter to capture an image. Not like other expensive films that require me to consider a lot of things before the image is captured, so that film wastage can be avoided. Another reason? I never heard of it and I never used it before.
Some people consider this film as a garbage, since the film lacks of antihalation layer. Some love it as the film has some unique properties. As for me, I am very satisfied with the results and I feel LUCKY for it. My friend joked with me when I was shooting with this film. He said: This is a lucky film. If the developed image is good, you are lucky. If the image goes bad, you can’t blame others but your own luck. Good luck when shooting this film.
